Principal's Message

Welcome,

St. Joseph’s Lochinvar has for the last 131 years provided opportunities for the young people enrolled at our school to realise their God-given potential.  As a Catholic school we try to be ‘Christ-like’ in how we relate to each other and our environment and we look to our founders, Fr. Julian Tenison Woods and St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop, as exemplars of such an approach to life.  As a school founded in turn by the Sisters of St. Joseph we describe ourselves as ‘Josephite’ and we seek to continue their tradition of Catholic education in an Australian context.

In this tradition we value the individual child and understand that our role is to provide a learning environment in which the full range of needs of our students can be addressed in our academic, pastoral and co-curricular programmes.

To achieve this, our aims are embodied in fundamental Catholic principles and beliefs.  We nurture respect and value human dignity, challenge students to improve the society in which we live and encourage the ‘Josephite’ call to look beyond self-interest and help those in need.

St. Joseph’s is a proudly Catholic school enriched by its ties to surrounding parishes.  We value academic excellence and we take pride in educating young people to serve as school and community leaders. In response to the needs of students in today’s rapidly changing world we equip students to be life-long learners and participate in society as global citizens, able to meet life’s challenges through support they receive from their families and the education they have gained from our school.

We encourage our students to value the opportunities that are made available to them in pursuing academic studies as well as interests in a range of co-curricular activities. The skills and knowledge gained from such pursuits ensures our students are able to meet the challenges of our society with confidence.

I thank you for visiting, and being a part of, the online St. Joseph’s Lochinvar community.

Mr Paul Greaves
