Retreats & Spirituality Days

“We have come to believe in God’s love: in these words the Christian can express the fundamental decision of his life. Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.”

(Pope Benedict XVI, Deus Caritas Est, 1)

The College engages each year group in Formation Days and Retreats:

  • Year 7, 8, 9 and 11 – 1 Formation day per year
  • Year 10 Retreat – 3 day experience
  • Year 12 Retreat – 3 day experience
  • Staff Spirituality Day – 1 per year

These encounters are centred on the cohort’s liturgical theme. These days are uniquely Catholic in nature and aim to assist students in exploring their own faith with the emphasis that at the heart of everything is Jesus Christ.

Retreat and Formation days are a catalyst for growth. If young people respond to God’s offer, they leave the encounter with something more than what they came with. This is a reality that goes far beyond “good feelings” and is often evident in a change of attitude and life practices which show the individual is living more fully. The central activity for each individual is to review important areas of his/her life and to question: “What is God’s role in my life and how do I choose to live this life I have been given?”, in the hope that they will come to a greater acceptance of their God given goodness.
