Languages Other Than English

The Language Other Than English (LOTE) curriculum opens the minds of students to difference and diversity as Australia continues to become a larger multi-cultural society. Proficiency in languages provides a national resource that encourages more effective engagement with the global community. The study of Languages fosters intellectual and emotional development, and cultural awareness.

LOTE (Japanese or French) is studied by all students in:

  • Year 7

Japanese is offered as an elective course for students in:

  • Year 9
  • Year 10

Students in Years 11 and 12 have the opportunity to study the following courses:

  • Japanese Beginners
  • Japanese Continuers
  • Students may be able to study another Language course after discussing their circumstances with the College.
